Who This Is For
Supporting children through life's challenges
Children experience the world deeply, but they don't always have the words or the tools to make sense of what they're feeling. Sometimes they need a safe space that meets them where they are.
Our therapists use developmentally appropriate, play-based approaches that children actually connect with. We work collaboratively with parents and caregivers as a central part of the process, because lasting change happens in the family system.
Whether your child is navigating anxiety, a difficult life event, or simply seems “not quite themselves”, we can help you understand what's going on and how to support them.
We support children with
- ✓Anxiety, worry, and separation anxiety
- ✓Trauma and difficult experiences
- ✓Grief and loss
- ✓School-related stress and social difficulties
- ✓Big life changes (separation, new sibling, moving)
- ✓Behavioural challenges and emotional outbursts
- ✓Emotional regulation difficulties
- ✓Developmental concerns and neurodivergence
- ✓Selective mutism
- ✓Low self-esteem and confidence
What to Expect
How child therapy works
Parent consultation
We start with a session for parents only, no child present. This gives us time to understand your child's history, your concerns, and what you're hoping for, without putting any pressure on your child from the outset.
Meeting your child
Your therapist takes time to simply build a relationship. Early sessions focus on safety and connection, play, conversation, or creative activities, before exploring anything difficult.
Ongoing work
Therapy unfolds at your child's pace. Parent check-ins are built into the process so you always know how things are progressing and how to support your child at home.

FAQ
Common questions
How old do children need to be to start therapy?
We work with children from around 4 years of age. Our therapists tailor their approach to each child's developmental stage, using play, art, and movement rather than talk-based methods for younger children.
Do parents participate in sessions?
Parent involvement is a key part of child therapy. Your therapist will discuss the right structure with you, which may include parent-only sessions, family sessions, or regular check-ins alongside your child's individual sessions.
What does play therapy actually look like?
Play is a child's natural language. Sessions use creative, expressive, and play-based activities, sand tray, art, storytelling, or imaginative play, that allow children to process experiences at their own pace without needing words.
Do you require a referral?
No referral is needed to book. If your child has a Mental Health Care Plan from their GP, they may be eligible for Medicare rebates for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.
How do I know if my child needs therapy?
Signs that therapy may help include persistent anxiety or worry, emotional outbursts, withdrawal, sleep difficulties, changes in behaviour at school, or following a difficult life event. If you're unsure, reach out, we're happy to chat it through.
