What We Help With
Trauma therapy for the Brisbane community
Trauma can arise from many different experiences. It may stem from a single distressing event or accumulate over years of difficult experiences within relationships, families, or systems. Whatever has brought you here, our Brisbane therapists offer a safe, confidential space to begin understanding what happened and how it continues to affect your life.
We work with childhood and developmental trauma, complex PTSD, family violence, grief and loss, first responder and occupational trauma, medical trauma, and experiences of institutional harm. We also support Queensland clients who are revisiting difficult earlier experiences for the first time, sometimes years after the events themselves.
Trauma therapy at our Brisbane clinic is always client-led, evidence-based, and paced to your readiness. We will never push you into difficult material before you feel prepared.

Our Approach
EMDR and trauma-informed care in Brisbane
Our Brisbane therapists follow a phase-based model of trauma treatment, built on the international best-practice framework for trauma recovery. This means we prioritise safety and stabilisation before moving into any trauma processing. You will be supported every step of the way by EMDRAA-accredited clinicians with specialist training in complex trauma.
Safety and Stabilisation
Before any trauma processing begins, we focus on building a safe therapeutic relationship and equipping you with practical tools for managing difficult emotions and nervous system responses. You will learn grounding and resourcing skills that support you both inside and outside of sessions. This phase takes as long as it needs to, and for many clients it brings significant relief on its own.
EMDR Processing
Once a foundation of safety is in place, we begin gently processing traumatic memories using EMDR. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation to help the brain reprocess experiences that have become stuck, without requiring you to describe them in detail. Adapted protocols are used for complex and developmental trauma, with sessions carefully paced to your window of tolerance.
Integration and Growth
As traumatic material is processed, the focus shifts to integrating new understandings into everyday life. This phase is about building healthier relationships, reconnecting with a sense of identity and purpose, and growing into the life you want. Clients often describe this as the most rewarding phase of the journey, where change becomes tangible.

Common questions about trauma therapy in Brisbane
What types of trauma do you treat in Brisbane?
Our Brisbane therapists work with a wide range of trauma presentations, including childhood and developmental trauma, complex PTSD, family violence, grief and loss, occupational trauma in first responders, and trauma related to medical or institutional experiences. We see adults, children, adolescents, and families at our Capalaba clinic. If you are unsure whether your experience fits, please reach out and we will help you find the right support.
Is EMDR available at your Brisbane clinic?
Yes. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is available at our Capalaba clinic in Brisbane. EMDR is a structured, evidence-based therapy that uses bilateral stimulation to help the brain reprocess traumatic memories, and it is recognised as a gold-standard trauma treatment by the World Health Organisation. All of our Brisbane therapists are trained in EMDR, including adapted protocols for complex and developmental trauma.
Do you offer Medicare rebates?
Yes. Medicare rebates are available for clients with a valid GP Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), which allows access to up to ten individual sessions per calendar year. We also accept NDIS funding for self-managed and plan-managed participants, and welcome private and self-funded clients. Contact us if you have questions about which funding pathway is right for you.
Where exactly is your Brisbane clinic?
Our Brisbane clinic is located at Unit 10/29 Mount Cotton Road, Capalaba QLD 4157, in the Redlands area of south-east Brisbane. The clinic has on-site parking and is easily accessible from Cleveland, Alexandra Hills, Birkdale, Thornlands, Victoria Point, and surrounding suburbs. For clients coming from inner Brisbane, the clinic is approximately 30 minutes from the CBD.
Do Brisbane clients also have access to telehealth?
Yes. All of our Brisbane therapists offer secure telehealth sessions via video for clients who prefer to work online, live further afield, or have difficulty attending in person. Telehealth is a full and effective mode of therapy, and most approaches we use, including EMDR, translate well to online delivery. Many clients who begin with telehealth choose to continue online even when in-person attendance becomes possible.
