What We Help With
Trauma therapy for the Creswick community
Trauma takes many forms. It can stem from a single distressing event or build up over years of difficult experiences within relationships, families, or institutions. Whatever has brought you here, our Creswick therapists offer a calm, confidential space to begin making sense of what happened and how it has shaped you.
We work with childhood and developmental trauma, complex PTSD, family violence, grief and loss, first responder and occupational trauma, medical trauma, and experiences of systemic harm. We also support adults who are only now, perhaps years or decades later, beginning to understand the impact of earlier experiences.
Trauma therapy at Bloom is always client-led. We work to your pace, using approaches that have strong evidence behind them, and we never push you into material before you feel ready.

Our Approach
EMDR and trauma-informed care in Creswick
Our Creswick therapists follow a phase-based model of trauma treatment, which prioritises safety and stabilisation before any trauma processing begins. This approach is guided by the international best-practice framework and the clinical expertise of our EMDRAA Consultant and Clinical Director. You will never be rushed or pushed into difficult material before you are ready.
Safety and Stabilisation
The first phase of trauma therapy focuses on building a safe therapeutic relationship and developing practical skills for managing difficult emotions and nervous system activation. You will learn grounding techniques, resourcing strategies, and how to understand your own patterns of response. This phase takes as long as it needs to. For many clients, stabilisation alone brings meaningful relief.
EMDR Processing
Once you have a solid foundation, we move gently into processing traumatic memories using EMDR. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation to help the brain reprocess stuck memories, without requiring a detailed verbal account of what happened. For complex or developmental trauma, adapted EMDR protocols are used, carefully paced to your window of tolerance.
Integration and Growth
As traumatic material is processed, the focus shifts to integrating new understandings into your daily life. This phase is about reconnecting with yourself, building healthier relationships, and moving toward the life you want. Many clients describe this as the most rewarding part of the process, where change becomes visible in everyday experience.

Common questions about trauma therapy in Creswick
What types of trauma do you treat in Creswick?
Our Creswick therapists work with a broad range of trauma presentations, including childhood and developmental trauma, complex PTSD, family violence, grief and loss, occupational trauma in first responders, and trauma related to medical experiences or significant life events. We work with adults, children, adolescents, and families. If you are unsure whether your experience fits, please reach out and we will help you find the right support.
What is EMDR and is it available in Creswick?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a structured therapy that helps the brain reprocess traumatic memories using bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements. It is recognised as a gold-standard treatment for trauma by the World Health Organisation. All of our Creswick therapists are trained in EMDR, and it is available as part of individual therapy sessions at our Albert Street clinic.
Do you offer Medicare rebates?
Yes. Medicare rebates are available for clients who hold a valid GP Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP). Your GP can refer you for up to ten individual sessions per calendar year. We also accept NDIS funding for self-managed and plan-managed participants, as well as private and self-funded clients. Contact us if you have questions about funding options.
Is telehealth available as well as in-person sessions?
Yes. All of our Creswick therapists offer secure telehealth sessions via video for clients who prefer to work online, live outside of Creswick, or have difficulty attending in person. Many evidence-based approaches, including EMDR, are fully compatible with online delivery. Telehealth sessions are a full and effective alternative to in-person therapy, not a lesser option.
How long does trauma therapy take?
The length of trauma therapy varies considerably depending on your history, goals, and the complexity of your presentation. Some people see meaningful progress within eight to twelve sessions, while others, particularly those with long-standing or complex trauma histories, benefit from a year or more of work. We will always discuss a realistic timeframe with you early in treatment and revisit it as you progress. There is no rush, and you set the pace.
